Blogging toward Sirenland

Thanks for setting up this blog, Michael and Dani.

My packet arrived today, too, and I read the first story over dinner -- great fun. Plus, all the first lines. Couldn't resist. (And, I admit it, I googled everyone.) This blog is a far better way to get a sense of people than random hits on the net. I'm a bit of a technological moron, but maybe I can figure out a way to insert a few story links over the coming days.

I'm looking forward to hearing from all of you.

I do have a blog of my own with some little nonfiction pieces on it - http://wishitwerefiction.blogspot.com/ - but I seem to have deleted most of the old posts. I rarely go there. But still, it's something.

There's also a poorly maintained myspace page out there. Not sure how to link to it, but it's under Gail Siegel.

Getting Ready

Hi Sirenland writers. It's Dani, here. I'm really looking forward to working with all of you. The packet with your material for the conference arrived in today's mail, and it was more exciting than a big box from Barney's. (Well, a different kind of exciting.) Our trip to Europe commences next Friday -- my husband, Michael, my seven year old son Jacob and I are spending a few days in Rome, then off to Prague to join some good Czech friends, and then heading to Positano to meet up with you all. Trying to figure out how to pack for three climates (cool, cold and hopefully -- in Positano -- warm) has taxed my usually decent organizational skills, not to mention that my new novel comes out just as we return from this trip, which means that I have five million little details to take care of before we leave -- all of which, I've convinced myself -- are essential to this publication. So life is a little crazy (but good, but good) and nothing makes me happier than the idea of reading (and thinking about, and talking about) good work.

I hope you'll all start blogging so that we can get to know each other before we arrive in Positano. Share your getting-ready-to-leave stories. Your what-the-hell-have-I-gotten-myself-into stories. Anything you want. Ciao Ciao!
